Chief Mike Sanchez
District Chief of Police
Mike Sanchez began his career in law Enforcement in 1995. In that time, before retiring from the Vidor Police Department in December of 2017, he served in many capacities. Prior to retiring he served as a reserve officer, patrol officer, deputy, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant and now Chief of Police for the Vidor Independent School District Police Department. In his tenure, Chief Sanchez had many roles to include Crisis Negotiator, Narcotics Investigator, Warrant Officer, Court Bailiff, Street Crimes Unit, Property Officer, Public Information Officer, Instructor, and Field Training Officer.
Currently, he oversees a department of 9 officers and has implemented new changes in the department. Many changes were prioritized to include constantly improving procedures and making it a priority to safeguard our students, faculty, staff and community. Constantly looking to diminish potential threats to our schools.
Sgt. Aaron Carter
Vidor Elementary
Sergeant Carter graduated from VHS in 2007and then graduated the LIT Regional Police Academy in 2010. He worked for several police departments between 2011 and 2017 before beginning his work with VISD PD in February of 2017. He is currently assigned to Vidor Elementary.
Officer James Roy
Vidor High School
Officer Roy is a 2002 graduate of Vidor High School. After graduating from the Lamar Institute of Technology Regional Police Academy in 2007, he began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer with the Vidor Police department until 2011 when he joined the City of Orange Police Department for 9 years. After 12 years of working patrol and shift work he decided he needed to spend more time with his family and after being presented the opportunity, he became a VISD Police Officer where he now gets to see his oldest son every day at the High School.
Officer Rylen Mirabella
Vidor Jr. High School
Officer Mirabella graduated from Bridge City High School in 2020. After high school, Officer Mirabella attended Lamar State Orange studying Criminal Justice. Officer Mirabella completed the Lamar Institute of Technology Regional Police Academy in May of 2024. Officer Mirabella then worked with the Bridge City Police Department before switching to serve at the Vidor ISD Police Department.
Officer Julian Vandevender
Vidor Middle School
Julian VanDevender is a 2014 graduate of Vidor High School. After attending Lamar University for several years, he graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology's Regional Police Academy in the Spring of 2020. After previously working with the Vidor Police Department, Officer VanDevender came to the Vidor ISD Police Department where he currently serves as the campus officer for Vidor Middle School.

Officer Joseph Marion
Pine Forest Elementary
Joseph Marion is a 2017 graduate of Vidor AIM Center High School. After attending a semester at Brigham Young University in Idaho, he served a mission in Accra, Ghana for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 2 years. After returning home he attended and graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology's Regional Police Academy in the Fall of 2022. After previously working with the Port Arthur Police Department then the Orange County Jail, Officer Marion came to the Vidor ISD Police Department where he currently serves as the campus officer for Pine Forest Elementary.
Security Officer Wade Brown
Vidor High School
A Vidor native, Wade Brown graduated from Vidor High School in 2005. After graduation, Wade served 5 years in the Marine Corps as a military police officer where he provided base security and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan to train local officers. Wade has since returned to Vidor where he joins our security team in protecting our students and staff.
Security Officer Kendra Swain
Vidor High School
Born in Houma, La, Kendra “Angel” Swain has called the Gulf Coast her home since birth. After graduating high school, she went to several Area Fire training schools to become the first female firefighter in her family. She attended Texas A&M Fire Training in 2005 to become the department's first female Public Information Officer. After 7 years in the department and a move to Jasper, Tx she went on to become a 911 Dispatcher/jailer, after graduating from Angelina College with her Basic Telecommunication certification. Another move made for another job change and this time it was to security, while also attending the national EMS Academy. In 2016 she and her family were transferred back to SETX, where her husband was stationed at MSU Port Arthur with the US Coast Guard. After 20 years of service to the country, her husband, Justin, decided to retire and they bought a home here in Vidor. Swain has been the DAEP para at the Jr. High for the past 3 years. Mother of 5, oldest 2 in the US Air Force, middle at BYU and younger 2 still at home. She quickly realized that time is precious and with all the shift jobs and moves, that she has missed out on a lot of time with her children. So, presented the opportunity she made the change to be a Security Officer at the High School.
