GT Referral Window: February 8-26, 2027

Vidor ISD has set the dates for the referral process for Gifted and Talented (G/T) services for the 2026-2027 school year for students currently enrolled in grades K-11 in VISD. We are committed to providing challenging learning experiences for students with exceptional intellectual and creative thinking abilities.

GT Assessment Window for referred students – mid March 17-April 7

GT Selection Committee Meetings – May 18-20, 2027

Determination letters sent – June date TBD

Parent Orientation Session for newly identified GT students – July

GT Services Begin – First Day of School

Important Dates for Kindergarten:

Kinder CogAT Testing on Campuses – Oct. 12-19

Parent Checklists/Permission Forms to top 10% – Nov. 6

Kinder Iowa Test to top 10% on campuses – Dec. 2-16

Identification Letters/Permission Forms & Do-Not-Qualify Letters sent home – Jan. 11

Parent Orientation Session – Jan. 25

Kinder GT Services begin – Feb. 1

VISD provides a G/T program to meet the unique needs of students identified as gifted. Identification is made according to state guidelines and district policy. The program provides curriculum that focuses on opportunities for high level learning, thinking, research and communication skills.

The open referral window opens during the spring semester. Anyone may refer a student for screening/assessment during this referral period. Late applications will not be accepted. For more information on the program, please contact the Director of Curriculum at 951.8737.
